You know that your attic’s insulation is important for keeping your home at a comfortable temperature, maintaining energy efficiency, and even dampening outside noise – but did you know that it could be a powerful tool in your home’s defense against pests? Arrow Exterminators, Inc. uses a specially-treated type of attic insulation that uses a pest control additive to prevent pests from entering your home – potentially stopping your next infestation before it can start.
Already have insulation in your attic? No problem – our eco-responsible insulation can be quickly and easily applied right over the top.
How Does Insulation Help Control Pests?
Our insulation can help prevent a pest infestation in two ways. First of all, bugs have a hard time moving through the insulation material. Secondly, our insulation is treated with a pest control additive that kills pests when they consume it. This additive is lethal to the following pests:
- Ants
- Booklice
- Centipedes
- Crickets
- Darkling beetles
- Earwigs
- Roaches
- Silverfish
- Sow bug
Your attic may not be the first place that comes to mind when you’re thinking about shoring up your pest defenses, but it can quickly become a high-traffic area for all sorts of bugs. People don’t spend a lot of time in their attics, and there are plenty of places to hide – which means they’re great places for pests to build their homes.
How is Arrow Exterminators, Inc.’ Attic Insulation Different from Normal Insulation?
Our attic insulation is made of cellulose and 85% recycled paper that is treated with a naturally-occurring mineral as a pest control agent. This additive is used in common household cleansers and while it isn’t harmful to humans and animals in small quantities, it is lethal to the pests mentioned above.
It’s important to remember that this additive will not control for rodents or even other types of bugs. If you’re concerned about a type of pest not listed above, you may need additional treatments.
Arrow Exterminators, Inc.’s Insulation Process
Since every one of our services is completely customized to your needs, no two jobs are exactly the same – however, we can give a broad overview of our process here:
- Inspection. Every service starts with a thorough inspection of your space. We look for any vulnerabilities, moisture, and existing pest infestations that may need to be dealt with before insulation can be applied.
- Preparation. Once the inspection is complete, we make any necessary preparations and get the area ready for insulation.
- Installation. We use a “blown-in” application method which essentially means that the insulation is sprayed into the area with a hose. This method offers complete coverage and efficient application, and is usually complete within 4 to 6 hours.
- It’s that simple! Once the insulation is in place, we clean up after ourselves.
