There’s something inherently creepy about spiders to most home owners or business owners across the state of Oklahoma. Maybe it’s their furry bodies and 8 legs or the reputation they’ve gained in horror films and Halloween decorations, but spiders aren’t very popular as an unwelcome house guest. To make matters worse, the wide variety of dangerous spiders found in Oklahoma often warrant immediate assistance from an exterminator.
Arrow Exterminators has over 60 years’ experience providing spider control in Oklahoma, giving us the experience and knowledge to identify the spider species that are currently in your structure and providing the most effective treatment possible. Even though spiders aren’t a fan-favorite for many, they do serve a valuable purpose in controlling populations of other insects that may be finding their way indoors. However, venomous spiders could cause a problem when flourishing inside of your home or business.
Oklahoma Spider Control
In Oklahoma, the two most notorious species of spider that require the assistance of an exterminator are the black widow and the brown recluse. While the venom types of these two species of spider are different, the effects they can have are both extremely detrimental in their own right. Here are some of the problems associated with the bite of each of these species of spiders:
- Black Widow – The female black widow has been found to have venom that is 15 times more deadly than that of a rattlesnake. However, fatalities that are associated with the bite of a black widow are far lower due to the difference in venom that is injected with each bite. While most black widow bites won’t be fatal, they can require medical attention and be incredibly painful.
- Brown Recluse – The venom of the brown recluse spider is necrotic, meaning it causes the death of skin and muscle tissue after injection. Without proper treatment, this can lead to large, gangrenous holes attributed to a condition called Loxoscelism. If treatment isn’t provided this condition will often lead to amputation of a limb or death, but rarely progresses that far.
